• Physical Therapy & Warm Water Treadmill

At Neel Veterinary Hospital, we use some of the latest techniques for rehabilitating animals back to health. Similar to human rehabilitation, after a successful surgery there is still a lot of work yet to be accomplished.

Neel Veterinary Hospital has the first and only private underwater treadmill in the state of Oklahoma.

Combined with physical therapy, this modality of treatment helps pets who have undergone orthopedic surgical procedures recover faster and regain strength and motility in their limbs.

This safe and gentle therapeutic approach to joint and limb care has also proven to be beneficial for geriatric patients who suffer from progressive age related joint diseases such as arthritis.

We also use many other types of therapy including balancing exercises, massage, range of motion, stretching, physioballs, and others to assist us in returning function to healing muscles and bones.

    When is Rehabilitation Necessary?

Physical Rehabilitation is a controlled exercise environment that allows the animal to regain function after an injury, minimizes the risk of re-injury and prevents muscle atrophy and other complications of disease.

Any pet that is suffering from Arthritis, Post-Operative Orthopedics, Post-Operative Disc Herniation Repair, Muscular Degeneration or Degenerative Neurologic Problems may need Physical Therapy.

Surgical recovery can be slow, painful and often span months. We have designed Physical Therapy programs to facilitate the recovery process and significantly reduce a patient’s recovery time.

Surgical patients aren’t the only pets that will benefit from Physical Therapy. Regular sessions in the Underwater Treadmill as well as massage and range of motion are an excellent way to help pets maintain good physical health as they age. Also, pain associated with aging pets and post operative recovery can be significantly reduced and sometimes eliminated with Physical Therapy treatments.

If you think your pet is suffering from a physical ailment, is aging, or may need Physical Therapy or Rehabilitation, please call or set an appointment for a Physical Therapy Exam. Our trained Veterinarians and Veterinary Technicians will design a program specifically for your pet.
