We are pleased to offer veterinary students and New Grad DVMs the opportunity to learn from our staff by providing multiple avenues for Mentorship.
Our Small Animal Rotating Internship is going to be offered again for the 2024-2025 application cycle. You will be able to view more details on the VIRMP website beginning Oct 2023. Our Internship offers rotations in Community Practice, Surgery, ICU, Emergency/Critical Care, Dentistry and Exotics. All Interns are also scheduled with Dr. Neel to learn Ultrasound. Each Intern is paired with a current DVM as a Mentor throughout the Internship year. All New Grads and Interns are also invited to weekly group meetings with Dr. Neel and Internship Admin Katy Hawkins to discuss interesting cases or protocols for the hospital. This Internship is scheduled for 50-60 hours per week, with NO on-call hours. Salary is $75,000.
Our Exotics Focused Internship is a separate program for those who are wanting more clinical experience with our exotic species patients. Dr. Alyson Fryer is extremely passionate about exotic pets and will be the Interns' main mentor. Interns will rotate through Exotics, ER, ICU and Surgery as well as get hands-on training with Ultrasound. We see any species that are legally able to be owned in the state of Oklahoma and we also provide care for local primate/wildlife sancuaries as needed. The wide variety of species treated in our hospital coupled with the technology on site used for diagnostics and treatment make this Internship unique for those pursuing a professional path in Exotics veterinary care.
Current Veterinary students who are looking for 4th year Externships or shadowing opportunities are welcome to join us at NVH! Whether you have 2 days or 4 weeks to spend with us, you will spend your time learning and growing in veterinary knowledge. You can rotate through the same areas listed above for the Internship or we can customize your time to your interests.
If you are interested in learning more about any of these opportunities, please fill out the form below and our Internship/Externship Administrator - Katy Hawkins - will respond back to you.
